Falling off the Bed

January 25th

It was a Sunday evening and we were just getting ready to fix something for dinner, when Hayden came running in the living room. She was screaming and dancing around telling us that she fell off her bed while making it.  We asked her if she was okay and if she had pain anywhere. She said, 'No," That was when Aaron noticed a shadow under her chin. He asked her to let him see her chin.  He walked over to her and lifted her face upwards and he saw a deep gash. She didn't even know she did it.  That was when Aaron told me that I had to take her in to the E.R.

We grabbed our coats and headed towards the Hospital. Hayden was calm and in good spirits all the way there. She was holding a rag to her chin to stop the blood, but she said it hurt too much to hold it there. When we got there, the E.R was super busy. We ended up waiting a long time just to get checked in. We sat and watched a bunch of people come in and out of the building. I couldn't believe how crazy it was. We were then called back to go check her in.  The Nurse looked at wound and asked a million questions, then told us to go wait back out in the main room till they could get her a bed.

When we got back out in the main room, there was no one there. Where did all the people go? We spent about 15 minutes by ourselves raiding the vending machines. We were so hungry.

All the sudden the room started to fill up again with all kinds of people and that was when we were called back again. Thank goodness....

They put us in a room that was occupied by a man next door, who was snoring soooooo loud.  Hayden was a little nervous while waiting. I had to keep her calm by telling her that she wouldnt feel a thing.  I think she was just scared to see a needle.

After waiting another half hour to see the Doctor, he finally came in to give her the numbing shot. This is the same Doctor that had to do Alex's Stitches. We laughed when we saw each other. Wait? wasn't I just here?

Hayden did not like the shot at all. She said it hurt. I hurt, just looking at that needle go way up in her chin. She did amazing tho.

After injecting her wound, we had to wait for her chin to numb.
It swelled up alot and drained out clotted blood. That was when I noticed the hole up inside the gash.

Waiting........

Can you see where the tissue split?

After a half hour, he came back in to do the stitches.  When he started sewing the first stitch, I cringed a little.  It's rough seeing these things happen to your own kid.

Ended up with 8 stitches.

After that was done, we had to wait another half hour in the room to be discharged.  From the computer in the room, you could see all the beds were full and they had 10 patients waiting for beds in the Main room.  I couldn't wait to get out of there.

He came back and gave her a handful of Chocolate. lol. He said he was so glad that she made it easy for him. He was so shocked out how well she did. He said that's rare for a child to be that calm in the E.R.

After what seemed like an eternity, which was really 3 hours, we were able to finally go home. Alex's E.R. visit was on a sunday too. We joked, that we are going to wrap them all up on Sundays with bubble wrap for now on. ha ha She was excited to go to School the next morning and show all her friends. He gave me the tools to take home so I could take her stitches out in a week. I hope I have no more E.R visits!
